Our journey with WildBlue started in December 2023, when our oldest son Lochlan decided to adopt his own cat with the money he had earned from pet sitting. He selected a sweet orange tabby – Zizia (now named Rose). She was later diagnosed with FIP, which introduced us to Lauri and her compassionate soul. Everyone at WB was so committed and supportive to helping us get our sweet Rose feeling like herself again, that we wanted to give back to the organization. We started with the Wednesday socialization team. A huge thank you to the medical team who lets Lochlan shadow them and help when possible. We then added fostering (we’ve cared for/loved 6 litters this first year!) – including bottle feeding two litters who lost their moms – as well as being runners for clinics. Recently we have begun getting involved in grant writing and the CCU project. Our little zoo now includes 5 WB cats (two before volunteering and three foster fails), our lab/collie Ivy, a guinea pig, a bearded dragon, a crested gecko, a Sulcata tortoise, and three Nigerian Dwarf goats. All of our animals are rescued/rehomed!
We are very grateful not only for the hard work Wildblue does for these precious lives – but also to have the chance to be part of such a wonderful, caring group of talented individuals. A special thank you for all the opportunities and kindness you have shown to our sons, it’s amazing to demonstrate to them what true compassion, kindness and community looks like. We look forward to many adventures in the future!
