Hello, all! I am Carrie, an active duty Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner in the Air Force. I’ve been stationed at Peterson for almost 4 years. My
daughter, Harper, is going into her senior year at Liberty High School. We became aware of Wild Blue in a totally random way…we had stopped at a pet store to pick up a new collar for our dog, Samuel, and stumbled upon an adoption fair. As we looked from a distance, a tiny tabby caught Harper’s eye…and that little kitten kept reaching her paw out of the cage towards her. Well, one snuggle with that kitten, then known as Fabry, sealed the deal. I had no experience with cats…I came from a “dog” family, but had loved petting neighborhood kitties as a child. Fast-forward almost 3 years, and our fur family has included 4 Wild Blue alums! We can’t imagine life without them! (We miss you, Luna!)
We started volunteering at Wild Blue so Harper could get hours for NHS, but it has turned into a labor of love for both of us! We have been in Kaylene’s Kradle for 2 seasons, and have experienced the joy and heartache that comes along with caring for our most vulnerable kitties. We started fostering last fall, and have narrowly dodged the “foster fail” bullet many times already! I recently added an evening shift in BBB, which
has been fulfilling in a totally different way.
Harper and I look forward to the new experiences that come along with each litter of Kaylene’s kittens, spicy mamas (thinking of you, Ms. Pearlescent!) and foster babies, and promise to make sure all of the kitties of Wild Blue Cats! feel safe, loved, and valued. Thank you for trusting us to be part of the team!
